If you’ve visited my LinkedIn profile lately, you know that I’ve been working at Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, since November of last year. I’ve been there for rouughly 5 months now, and it’s been a great experience. One of the things that I’ve enjoyed is designing bulletins for our many different services. Here are a few.

We printed the Advent bulletin on a silk matte stock using a unique PMS black and metallic gold ink.

Due to budgetary restrictions, some of the smaller service programs are printed in-house by our pressman Lonnie, in a single spot color. To keep film costs down, the bulletin art has to be strictly lineart and bitmap…no halftone-patterns. Hence the china-marker filling on the leaves.

Same deal with the Ash Wednesday bulletin. A little crumbled charcoal (from the grill it came, to the grill it will return) and some textured uncoated bright white stock went a long way.

“The Messenger” is Second’s bi-weekly newsletter. It needed a few type tweaks and a look-and-feel that’s a little more congruent to the relatively new Second website.

This year’s World Missions Conference design. Rockin’ out the grunge vector mask taught to me by Josh Horton. Google Translator saved me, although one visiting missionary told me our Arabic was backwards.

And this year’s bulletin for Easter.

I’ve noticed your work at 2PC, Carl, and think it looks great. I can really tell a difference. Glad you are there.
